Reflection of Our Second Trip to the Moral Care Center(Mar 17th)

This Saturday Shi Zhi and I went down to the moral center to further explore the needs of the elderly in the center. Firstly we talked to some of the elderly there. They said they are boring at home so they went to the center. During the conversation we found that most elderly there feel lonely. Their children had work to do and seldom visited them. Thus no one take care of them. Some said they feel they were useless as they were unable to remember affairs, communicate to others especially the younger generation, or contribute to the society. Some complain of the low income and financial problems they faced.

Then we talked with the senior officer of the center. He appreciated our effort in the charity sale. And thanked us for helping them solve the financial problem. He said he will strongly support us for our project. He had arranged the English lessons for us from April to June. He also told us that there would be a charity show which is organized by Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society (THK). If possible we want to invite these elderly to perform on the show thus it will rebuild their confidence and they can contribute to the society at the same time. Also the director told us that elderly there had learnt Laugh Therapy which can help to relieve pressure. It is good for students. So we could invite them to address to Hwa Chong students. It can also rebuild their confidence and make them feel involve in the society.
